Nile Blue Test in Digestive Disease in Korean



Abstract
The presence of fecal fat centent using Nile Blue reagent was performed in 14 cases of normal subjects and 107 reactions in 89 cases of digestive disease and their post operative state who was consisted of 53 cases of surgid patients-gastrectomy due to stomach ca, 17, gastrectomy duel to peptic ulcer, 12, gastro-jejuno-colic fistula, 1, stomach abscess, 1, Intestinal resection, 13, cholecystectomy, 9-and 36 cases of non-surgical digestive disease (acute pancreatitis, 5, acute and chronic gastritis 12, Acute enterocolitis, 6, Liver disease, 9).
The test waa also compared with the I^(131) Triolein test which was made express by us during last year.
The results obtained as follow:
1) Among the normal subjects, the Nile Blue test was reaveled (£­) to (¡¾) in 93% of subject and (£«) in 7% of them.
2) There was high incidency of positive reaction and constant increase of fecal fat content-80~100% £­ in the biliary tract disease, pancrease disease, enterocolitis and intestinal resection cases.
3) 50~60% of patients who has stomach disease or gastrectomy case were revealed positive reaction and 50% of cholecystectomy case was also revealed positive.
4) The test was compared with I^(131) triolein absorption test. It was not always agreed with the other but the regult of both was similar in the obvious steatorrhea cases such as high percentage of I^(131) triolein excrated patient and it was also (??) to (??) of Nile Blue test.
